Dark Lover

Dark Lover is the final installment for The Rose Trilogy, but is the only book which I’ve read in this series.
Ian Maclean has powers – powers which are supposed to help people. However, Ian chooses not to use his powers to help, instead, he uses it for personal gains. He’s rich, good-looking, egoistic and oozes sex appeal, Ian is always popular with the ladies – all except one, the Slayer Sam Rose who, much to his amusement, despises him.

Sam Rose is a slayer – working for a secret agency whose intention is to kill demons, fearless and strong, she is always in control. The one man who unravels her control is Ian Maclean, whom she is attracted to.

Unfortunately for her, Sam’s newest assignment is to keep track of Ian’s whereabouts, for he will not only retrieve a stolen page from a powerful magic book, he is intending to sell it to the highest bidder. This page, if fallen into the wrong hands, would bring massive chaos and ultimately destroy the world.. Sam has no choice but to keep close to Ian, to convince him to hand over that page to her agency – for the greater good of mankind.

With both parties trying to use all means to outwit each other, Sam also discovered Ian’s secrets – his reasons for not using his powers for the greater good, and also the hidden secret of Ian’s life that made him into who he is.

Sam then finds herself torn between her call of duty and the call of her heart. Will she fight against Ian or will she fight alongside with him?

Read on to find out.

There’s only one word I can use to describe this word – Intense. Ian’s character is a strong-willed character that’s very much haunted by his past while Sam is the fearless heroine who is torn between love and duty. Together, the two of them fit together to complete the puzzle.

This is really an awesome read, for even though I’ve not read the first two books, I was able to understand what’s going on right from the start. This book is really the perfect finale to the series that leaves me completely satisfied. I don’t think I’ll want to read the first two books for fear that those two books might end up to be disappointing instead.
